Volunteers are an essential part of Animal Welfare League. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available at the shelter, at both the Have A Hart and Menagerie retail stores, and at many of our fundraising events.
At the shelter, volunteers make an impact on the lives of our animals by providing them with the love and care necessary to keep them happy and healthy while they await their new family. We are always looking to add go-getters and animal advocates to our volunteer team!
You will then be contacted to attend a small, mandatory orientation. The review process may take several weeks, and we appreciate your patience with us.
The Have a Hart pet supply store has openings for retail assistants. The Menagerie Thrift and Gift Shoppe (in Howland) needs volunteers for cashier assistance, light housekeeping and merchandising, and back room help sorting, cleaning, and prepping incoming donations. For more information, stop in and talk to a store associate.
Since the AWL relies solely on donations and receives no government funding, we are always fundraising to offset our operating costs. Volunteers are needed to help at fundraising events, setting up, selling raffle tickets, organizing activities, acquiring donations for Chinese Auctions and more! Additionally, to help support our mission and continue education on responsible pet ownership, AWL often participates at other events by setting up a booth or display. Volunteers are needed to man these booths, provide information on AWL, and collect donations.
